Friends in Faith is going to Detroit this summer for the ELCA Youth Gathering! We are really excited to share this experience with all of our FiF.

We need your registration by this Sunday, October 12th! We will accept your registration after this date, but there is a better chance of you for sure getting registered before Sunday. We want all of our 9-12th graders to consider going on this trip. The ELCA Youth Gathering is a trip that will impact you as youth for the rest of your life. You will make new friendships and strengthen your current ones, you will get to know more adult leaders, you will get to worship in a mass worship setting, you will get to explore new places… the list can go on and on!

You will never regret going, but you can regret missed opportunities! We hope that you consider joining us on this trip. If you have any questions about Detroit, how to register, or financial questions please contact Kathy or Ashley.

Friends in Faith were able to travel to many locations this summer, ranging from 13,000 feet above sea level to 250 feet below sea level. Here are some pictures from our trips:

Your youth, with a little help from the congregation, brought in 852 pairs of socks!!! Thank you so much to everyone who donated or thought about donating! These socks will be distributed beginning tonight to the people who are staying at Trinity for sheltering churches. Your donations will help to keep our guests warmer through these cold temperatures.

Ashley, Kathy, Logan, and McAyla are figuring out hair color options! This will be happening soon, so watch here and Facebook for updates. We will also announce the mystery reward soon; it will take place during Lent.

We are truly blessed to be working with Friends in Faith who will take a challenge to help others and take it to the next level!

We are so grateful to everyone who has donated or thought about donating. Friends in Faith truly is made up of amazing people!

We hope each family will consider donating socks for this wonderful community building opportunity. Socks can be brought to the youth room and placed in the boxes provided with each grade level on them. It would also help if your youth would write their grade level on the package.

Your youth have brought in 341 pairs of socks as of this morning!!! We are so thankful to everyone who has donated so far and to everyone who is thinking of donating. All of the socks will be donated to FM Sheltering Churches, which received the 2013 organization of the year award from the City of Fargo. Trinity will have guests staying with us beginning March 2^nd and that is when the socks will begin to be distributed.

Even though all of us like our current hair color we are starting to talk to hair stylists about hair dye for when the youth reach 750 pairs- it’s for a good cause right??  We hope each family will consider donating socks for this wonderful community building opportunity. Socks can be brought to the youth room and placed in the boxes provided with each grade level on them. It would also help if your youth would write their grade level on the package.

We are on our way to our goal of reaching 500 pairs of socks! Our current total as of 2/10/14 is 130 pairs of socks! As you can see, we are adding incentives to reach our goal. Even though all of us like our current hair color we are willing to have it dyed with the youth’s color of choice once they reach 750 pairs- it’s for a good cause right??  We hope each family will consider donating socks for this wonderful community building opportunity.

Friends is Faith is having a sock drive for sheltering churches! As a church, Trinity, is housing local homeless individuals March 2^nd-9^th. This is a wonderful way that Trinity is connecting with the community and we want the youth to be part of that! Many of the people who need assistance from the sheltering churches project work outside and as a result of that wear multiple layers of socks each day to keep warm. We are challenging youth and families in grades 7-12 to collect 500 pairs of socks by February 26^th. We are collecting socks for men and women that are the cotton ‘crew’ or tall style of sock. Local stores are selling 6 packs of crew socks for under $8. Just imagine, if each youth donated a six pack of socks, we would exceed our goal and help many people in our community. Please consider donating socks for sheltering churches.
